A few days ago we said a final farewell to our summer holidays (and it turns out the blissful long spell of perfect sunny weather too) with a homemade seasonal three course meal. A delicious summer date night filled with August goodies which paid tribute to the beautiful summer we’ve had and offered a prelude to the crisp Autumn air that was on the very tip of the following day’s tongue. It was a divine, seasonally-centred way to spend our final evening off together.
Starter: Figs stuffed with creamy gorgonzola & wrapped in Parma Ham

Served with sumptuously smooth Hans Lang German Reisling.
Main: Handmade Stilton Pattie with salad & homemade slaw
August special guest: corn on the cob, carrot, cabbage, Kent tomatoes
Served with a soft easy-drinking bottle of Paul Mas reserve red wine.
Dessert: Blackberry meringues & Cornish Clotted Cream

Followed by Waitrose LBV Port.
Certainly today’s cooler wet weather seems to symbolise the end of Summer and it actually was for us, it being our first day back at work today.
